Therapist Stories: Caroline Jago’s Experience As A Hypnotherapist

We recently caught up with Caroline Jago, who is currently qualifying as a Hypnotherapist. We learnt more about her therapist experience including her journey into complementary therapy, her perspectives of nutritional therapy and what you can expect as one of her patients.

1. Can you tell me about your journey into complementary health and why you chose hypnotherapy?

I originally qualified as a reflexologist, which was an excellent foundation for therapy work. However as time went on, I became more interested in the body-mind connection, rather than focusing on them as separate entities. Hypnotherapy integrates both, and importantly demonstrates to people their own power to change aspects of their reality.

2. How would you explain the benefits of hypnotherapy to someone unfamiliar with it?

Hypnotherapy has a significant number of benefits – not only those which I’ve mentioned above, but its flexibility and adaptability to individuals meaning there’s no ‘one size fits all’ approach. It’s also constantly evolving and improving as developments in both neuroscience and psychology teach us more about the brain, and how we can work with it.

3. What do you wish more people knew about hypnotherapy? What is the biggest misconception?

I generally tend to do some myth busting at the beginning, as people occasionally come to hypnotherapy with misconceptions gathered from stage hypnosis – significantly that they have no control over the process, where in fact the opposite is true! It is a co-creative process, where I guide you towards whatever your definition of a successful outcome is.

4. What advice do you have for individuals interested in exploring complementary health options for their own wellness?

Check that any practitioner you choose is properly qualified and insured, and it’s also worth checking reviews and testimonials. Ask them any questions you have beforehand, and see whether they offer a free intro call so that you can establish whether they are a good fit for you.

5. How do you approach appointments and series of appointments with your patients?

I offer a free 15 minute call so you can ask me any questions, and be confident that we will work well together. I can then see you either face to face in London or Kent, by telephone, or online – wherever in the world you might be. I also offer coaching, which is a good fit with hypnotherapy in terms of practical solutions – so our sessions can utilise either one or the other, or both.
