Product Description

Yoga Therapy is the personalised application of yoga techniques to fit the current needs and interests of the individual.  Yoga Therapy is to assist a specific health need or needs; working with the individual to tailor a plan that they can practice and benefit from.

These includes postures, working with the breath, awareness of the body and/or mind together with and meditation and relaxation; directing these practices to the needs and ability of the person concerned.

The aim of Yoga Therapy is to promote good health for the person as a whole – the emphasis of this work may be towards the body, mind, emotions, or a combination of these.

The sessions are different from a public or private yoga class.  This is because the client and therapist have a collaborative relationship.  Throughout the sessions, the therapist brings their knowledge and experience of yoga through assessing (e.g. how the client stands, moves and breaths) ensuring that the needs, expectations, and priorities of the client are met.

Yoga therapy can of course assist in alleviating pain and discomfort but can be an ideal introduction to yoga for a beginner or for a more advanced student deepening their knowledge of the yoga postures and breathing.
