Product Description
Yoga can be used on a therapeutic basis to help promote physical and mental health and well-being. A therapy session with Jane includes a personalized assessment, goal setting, lifestyle management and yoga practices. Jane is also a Butekyo breath instructor and has helped many clients, including asthmatics and clients with COPD, to improve their natural breath and enhance their well-being. Meditation is used in most sessions and Jane specialises in using meditation to help reduce stress and anxiety and improve sleep.
Yoga Nidra – the deepest kind of relaxation – is an ancient but little-known yogic practice that is used by Jane in sessions to help create balance and harmony in the nervous system by quietening the mind. Yoga Nidra is frequently observed as a kind of ‘yogic sleep’ whereas within the state of yoga nidra, you’re further beyond a waking state, past a dreaming state and inside a kind of sleep or very deep meditative state, even though you are truly awake. It often brings immediate physical benefits, such as reduced stress and better sleep and has the potential to heal psychological wounds. As a meditation practice, it can engender a profound sense of joy and well-being. It is a deceptively simple guided practice, taught lying down and can be introduced and practiced in less than 10 minutes. It is now used in the USA across military facilities to manage negative emotions and stress and reduce PTSD symptoms, anxiety, addictions and insomnia as well as in homeless shelters, Montessori schools, hospitals and hospices.
Jane also offers Yoga to enhance the health and well being of pregnant women with a combination of asana, pranayama (control of your breath), mudra and relaxation based on the teachings of Yoga.
Clients with stress, anxiety, insomnia, back pain, shoulder, knee, hip and foot injuries have benefited from Yoga Therapy sessions with Jane. Francis McWilliam attended yoga sessions with Jane and said:
“Yoga with Jane has been life changing for me. I have had 2 major hip surgeries including a total hip replacement. For a couple of years afterwards I was still in a lot of pain. Going to Jane has been a revelation. She has improved my core strength and my confidence and I am now almost completely pain free!”
Liz Price was introduced to Jane shortly after being diagnosed with compressed spinal syndrome, which meant she was in constant agony when moving her head from left to right. She was also experiencing tingling in her arms and hands when she made certain movements. Liz says “Under Jane’s meticulous approach and care, I have regained not only a tremendous amount of more movement in my neck, but am also pain free. I also no longer experience any more tingling in my arms. As a very active person, being diagnosed with compressed spinal syndrome also knocked my confidence, but talking to Jane who is extremely attentive to mental health, I now feel confident enough to regain my active life-style.”
Another client says “Jane scooped me up in a period of serious illness and created a bespoke program on a one to one basis which has steadily supported my recovery to the point that I am back working full time and able to attend her intermediate classes. Yoga has become part of my life and a way of managing the stresses and strains helping me to sleep better, feel stronger and be more flexible.
As a rider the focus on posture and alignment has transformed not only my position but the way I think about working my horses. I cannot recommend Jane highly enough.”
