Hello, I am a Facilitator and Founder of Stepping into Life.
In the various programmes I offer, I combine where appropriate the therapeutic powers of movement, rituals, creativity, nature, compassionate processes, journalling and tools of Nonviolent Communication (NVC).
My dedication to the inner life, the body and now nutrition is a response to my personal healing journey with trauma and my capacity to fathom my own inner light and shadow. Through this, I have learnt to uncover my survival stories and mechanisms of psychological defences and the ensuing cycle of disempowerment.
Growing up in West Africa, relocating to England, having a multiracial heritage and issues of racial identity and belonging have helped me to understand the loneliness, confusion and isolation of not belonging, as well as and the impact it has on mental health, and relationships.
This together with my discovery of and training in contemporary dance helped me to understand dance and movement as media to heal through the body. I learnt to combine non stylised movement classes for people without dance experience exploring the relationship between mind, body and nature.
Learning Nonviolent Communication (NVC) helped me to deepen my commitment to self awareness. NVC opened up a completely new world of understanding myself, the world and others. This together with living in two spiritual communities turbo charged my understanding of the shadow in myself and others, and gave me a deeper lived experienced of community.
Nowadays, my commitment to growth and spirituality has become more embodied and lived through the vehicle of relationship in all its nuances and complexities with my partner.
